This is the second of eight volumes of Bishop Sutton’s records which are introduced in the entry for Volume 39. The records of Bishop Sutton’s institutions in the archdeaconry of Northampton (which consisted of the counties of Northampton and Rutland) are complete, beginning with a few sede vacante institutions in the early months of 1280 and ending with the Bishop’s death in November 1299.
